Drum Taps: Nine Poems on Themes of War

My biggest piece since my opera Songs from the Cedar House (1991) premieres at Pacific Lutheran University’s Lagerquist Concert Hall this next Tuesday night, May 15 at 8 pm. “Drum Taps: Nine Poems on Themes of War” is a 60 minute meditation on war through the ages as described by poets from many parts of the world over 1600 years. Orchestra, mixed choir and four vocal (SATB) soloists combine to form an ensemble of about 160 people crowded onto the stage. It should be quite a noise…
